POSITION DESCRIPTION: Custodian

 

 

PURPOSE

To provide basic custodial/cleaning services for the church building.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES are expected to require 10-12 hours per week, including but are not limited to the following duties:

• Clean the church building according to a detailed schedule, including regular cleaning of the church office, sanctuary, chapel, classrooms, meeting rooms, kitchens, restrooms and fellowship hall; emptying all trash and recycling bins; maintaining clear and clean entryways.
• Identify and report any major repair issues to the Office Manager, Head of Staff and/or Property Committee member.
• In conjunction with the Office Manager, inventory and order cleaning supplies and equipment as necessary.  
• Additional time and tasks as needed for weddings, funerals and special events.
• Specific duties may vary from week to week.  

 

REQUIREMENTS

Applicants should have at least a high school diploma, the ability to work in the United States.

Must be able to stand, climb stairs, regular physical labor typical for custodial work; lift up to

40 lbs. manually and/or with use of equipment.  Must be able to prioritize various duties to be completed.  

 

All applicants will undergo criminal background checks; independent contractors/companies must be bonded and insured.  

 

RELATIONSHIPS

The Custodian is responsible for the Session of Boulevard Presbyterian Church through the Personnel Committee and Head of Staff, while also serving and working closely with the Office Manager and Property Committee. It is expected that the Custodian will maintain a positive working relationship with all building users, church members and staff.  

 

SCHEDULE

It is estimated that this position will typically require 10-12 hours per week, availability to work weekdays and some weekends.  This position will be paid at an hourly rate commensurate with experience.
